Basketball Game Preview: Smoky Hill Buffaloes vs. Heritage Eagles

The Smoky Hill Buffaloes will take on the Heritage Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Smoky Hill is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped last Tuesday as they easily beat Gateway 59-25. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Buffaloes as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Yamani Perez was the offensive standout of the contest as she posted 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Allen, who earned nine points.

Meanwhile, Heritage posted their biggest win since December 19, 2023 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Gateway with a sharp 56-36 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Smoky Hill's win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Heritage, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.

Smoky Hill was taken down by Heritage 52-3 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Smoky Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
