Softball Recap: Keyser Find Success

Keyser proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Musselman Applemen 6-5. The Golden Tornado haven't had any issues with the Applemen recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Leighton Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brielle Root, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Ivy Bromhal was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Keyser was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Keyser's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Musselman, they dropped their record down to 4-10-1 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Keyser wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 7-4 loss against Mountain Ridge on the 21st. As for Musselman, they have also already played their next game, a 10-2 victory against Hampshire on the 22nd.
