Baseball Recap: Conneaut Takes a Loss

Conneaut had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it eight. They came up short against the Edgewood Warriors, falling 14-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 15, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Conneaut saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chetti Arcaro, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. That double was Arcaro's first of the season.

As for Edgewood, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Edgewood's side, they got a great performance from Elliot Tobie as he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Tobie has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Zane Naylor was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conneaut will head out to challenge Harding at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Edgewood, they will venture away from home to square off against Grand Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
