Basketball Recap: Jorey Billings' Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] over Cheraw

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 63-46 to the Cheraw Wolverines. The Patriots were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolverines from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jorey Billings, who went 7-for-11 on his way to 20 points and seven boards. Those 20 points gave Billings a new career-high. Dallas Calzonetti was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

Cheraw's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tim Provost, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine boards. Provost has become a key player for Cheraw: the team is 6-3 when he posts at least 15 points, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Stoker, who posted 13 points and six steals.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett]'s loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Cheraw, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-45 defeat against Kit Carson on the 28th. As for Cheraw, they have also already played their next game, a 51-25 victory against Genoa-Hugo/Karval on the 28th.
