Recap: Monument Valley Cougars vs. St. Joseph Jayhawks
The Monument Valley Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past St. Joseph, posting a 67-30 win on the road. Winning may never get old, but Monument Valley sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
It was another big night for Nevaeh Wilson, who scored 19 points. The contest was her ninth in a row with at least ten points. Shimequa Hudson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
St. Joseph's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katelyn Martinez, who scored 12 points. Martinez scored a full 40% of St. Joseph's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizzie Randall, who scored eight points.
Monument Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for St. Joseph, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.
Monument Valley and Rock Point will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Rock Point is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
