Pembroke Pines Charter hasn't had much luck against Archbishop McCarthy recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Pembroke Pines Charter saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dean Jaworski, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Jaworski a new career-high in RBI (three).
Meanwhile, Archbishop McCarthy got the win against Hollywood Hills on Monday by a conclusive 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Archbishop McCarthy got several good pitching performances, but Androckles Larsen was perhaps the best, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Larsen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Danny Machado was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Cerra, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Archbishop McCarthy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Archbishop McCarthy pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they now have a winning record of 12-11-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pembroke Pines Charter has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Archbishop McCarthy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
