Lincoln East faced Lincoln North Star in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Navigators a 7-0 shutout. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Santino Arranaga tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Troy Peltz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tanner Peterson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

The victory was the third in a row for Lincoln East, bringing their record up to 23-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln North Star, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
