Softball Recap: Eastern Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Eastern waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the North Adams Green Devils. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 7-0 victory two weeks ago.

Allie Grooms spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tabby Schumacher was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

Eastern pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for North Adams, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Coming up, Eastern will head out on the road to square off against Whiteoak at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for North Adams, they will square off against West Union at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.79 runs per game on average), something the Green Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
