Soccer Game Preview: Highlands vs. Esparto

Highlands hasn't had much luck against Esparto recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Highlands Scots will take on the Esparto Spartans in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. Highlands will be strutting in after a win while Esparto will be coming in after a defeat.

Highlands' defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Vacaville Christian as Highlands made off with an 8-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Esparto's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Friday. They lost 11-3 to Woodland. The loss was the Spartans' first of the season.

David Martinez and Alan Venegas scored all three of Esparto's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Esparto fell to 4-1. As for Highlands, the win got them back to even at 2-2-1.
