Baseball Game Preview: Centerville Tigers vs. Leon Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Centerville Tigers challenge Leon Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Centerville and Leon will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Centerville made easy work of Lovelady and carried off a 13-3 win. Considering the Tigers have won six matches by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Leon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past Bruceville-Eddy 16-8 last Thursday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Cougars' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Centerville's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Leon, they moved to 2-7 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Centerville was able to grind out a solid win over Leon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centerville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
