Basketball Game Preview: Marquette Redmen vs. Houghton Gremlins

The Marquette Redmen will head out on the road to face off against the Houghton Gremlins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Marquette is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since January 16, 2024 on Friday. They lost 48-22 to Negaunee. While losing is never fun, the Redmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Miners are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, Houghton hadn't done well against Hancock recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Houghton enjoyed a cozy 48-29 victory over Hancock.

This is the second loss in a row for Marquette and nudges their season record down to 7-13. As for Houghton, their record is now 13-6.

Marquette came up short against Houghton in their previous meeting on February 4th, falling 61-50. Can Marquette avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
