The DeMatha Stags are ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the St. John's Cadets. DeMatha came out on top in a nail-biter against St. John's and snuck past 67-64. Winning may never get old, but DeMatha sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

DeMatha's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malcolm Thomas led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Thomas hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton (ace) Meeks, who scored 11 points along with three steals.

DeMatha's win bumped their record up to 20-11. As for St. John's, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-7.

DeMatha and Gonzaga will face off at 6:15 p.m. on February 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gonzaga is coming into the contest with 15 straight victories at home, so DeMatha will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. St. John's does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
