Soccer Game Preview: Sycamore vs. Springfield

The Sycamore War Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Springfield Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sycamore will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Sycamore proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by four) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Fairview 2-1. Given Sycamore's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Fairview are ranked 215th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Springfield can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. Neither they nor Cheatham County Central could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw. The result was nothing new for Springfield as the squad haven't won a game since March 11th.

Justin Rubio Hernandez and Jurgen Sanginez Pereda scored both of Springfield's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Sycamore pushed their record up to 9-0-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four contests. Springfield's draw gives them a new season record of 1-7-1.

Sycamore came up short against Springfield in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the War Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
