Volleyball Game Preview: Dublin Jerome Celtics vs. Hilliard Darby Panthers

After both having extra time off, the Dublin Jerome Celtics and the Hilliard Darby Panthers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dublin Jerome will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Dublin Jerome had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt St. Charles on Wednesday. The Celtics blew past the Cardinals 3-0. The Celtics not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 3-0).

While Dublin Jerome won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-18, 27-25.

Meanwhile, Hilliard Darby posted their closest victory since March 28th on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Dublin Coffman 2-1.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Hilliard Darby who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 17-25, 15-9.

Dublin Jerome's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Hilliard Darby, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Dublin Jerome skirted past Hilliard Darby 3-2 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Celtics repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
