Recap: Brush Beetdiggers vs. Ellicott Thunderhawks
The Brush Beetdiggers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 35-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ellicott. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Brush of the 56-33 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Brush had strong showings from Jocelynn Middlemist, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds, and Sarah Becker, who scored five points along with four steals. Becker has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Brush bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Ellicott, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brush will take on Frontier Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Frontier Academy is ranked 251st, while Brush is ranked 242nd). As for Ellicott, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Manitou Springs at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th.
