Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Saucon Valley

Saucon Valley got themselves on the board against Pen Argyl on Thursday, but Pen Argyl never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Green Knights with a sharp 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cole Hubert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon O'Rourke, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Zak Ziegler, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Saucon Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pen Argyl only posted a batting average of .000.

Saucon Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Pen Argyl, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4-1.
