Basketball Recap: Hoehne Piles Up the Points Against FWC Academy

Hoehne was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against FWC Academy on Friday. The Farmers claimed a resounding 72-44 win over FWC Academy. The Farmers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 6th (when they won 75-40).

Hoehne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Magninat led the charge by going 9-for-21 on his way to 20 points and six assists. Another player making a difference was Ethan Lopez, who posted 12 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Hoehne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

The victory got Hoehne back to even at 1-1. As for FWC Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Hoehne and Des Moines will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. As for FWC Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Aguilar at 5:00 p.m. on January 19, 2026.
