Softball Recap: Garner Extends Winning Streak to Four

Garner never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Garner let Sam Hawkins and Joelle Sanders run wild. Hawkins went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Sanders went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Sanders a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Meyer, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Garner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .826. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Garner's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Southeast Raleigh, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Garner will challenge Cleveland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Garner's pitchers better be ready for this one: Cleveland has averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Southeast Raleigh, they will take on South Garner at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. South Garner has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.29 runs per game on average), something Southeast Raleigh will no doubt try to take advantage of.
