Baseball Recap: Maclay Comes Up Short

After flying high against Wakulla last Thursday, Maclay came back down to earth. The Maclay Marauders came up short against the St. Johns Country Day Spartans on Saturday, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Marauders have suffered since April 23, 2024.

Maclay saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Beshears, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Beshears has posted since back in March of 2024.

Maclay's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for St. Johns Country Day, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maclay will venture away from home to challenge Blountstown at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Maclay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season. As for St. Johns Country Day, they are taking a road trip to take on Flagler Palm Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Johns Country Day is facing Flagler Palm Coast at the right time seeing as Flagler Palm Coast is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
