Basketball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Cornerstone Christian's Third in Last Four Outings

If St. Michael wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cornerstone Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Yasmeen Schmidt. The Cornerstone Christian Warriors strolled past the St. Michael's Warriors with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 56-37 thanks in part to Schmidt, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on her way to 29 points. Her afternoon made it 38 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Lena Kees, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. What's more, she also racked up four blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024.

Cornerstone Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which somehow still isn't as good as their 23-6 record this season. As for St. Michael's, they dropped their record down to 8-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Cornerstone Christian will head out to challenge Wylie at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Michael's, they will welcome Savio on Tuesday.
