Basketball Game Preview: Bob Jones Patriots vs. Sandy Creek Patriots

Bob Jones will face off against Sandy Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Bob Jones took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They blew past Fairfield, posting a 57-15 win. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 29 points or more this season.

Bob Jones can attribute much of their success to Ella Watts, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 16 points, and Ja'Kyah Smith, who posted six points in addition to six assists and five steals. Smith has become a key player for the Patriots: the team is undefeated when she posts at least three steals, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Taelor Adkins, who scored eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Bob Jones smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Sandy Creek got the win against Cherokee on Friday by a conclusive 60-38.

Sandy Creek's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Bob Jones, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
