Volleyball Recap: Leah Allen Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Fort Atkinson

Sauk Prairie had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Fort Atkinson on Thursday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Blackhawks with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Blackhawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

One reason for the win was Sauk Prairie's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-13, 25-12.

Sauk Prairie's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leah Allen, who had 20 assists and six digs. Those 20 assists gave Allen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Braund, who had nine digs and two aces.

Sauk Prairie's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Fort Atkinson, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Sauk Prairie will take on Darlington in a tournament on Saturday. Fort Atkinson will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' match: after the Eagles face off against Oregon, they'll take on Fort Atkinson again at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
