The Ironwood Eagles will face off against the McClintock Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Friday, Ironwood was just a hair shy of victory and fell 28-27 to Paradise Valley. Despite 122 more yards than the Trojans, the Eagles couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the loss, Ironwood got top-tier performance from Khavontae Paul, who rushed for 176 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 150 yards and one touchdown. The Eagles' leading receiver Ramsey Pyne was Paul's top target yet again, picking up 123 receiving yards and one score.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Gavin Bernal for the heroic effort on defense: he. Ironwood's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.2.

Ironwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Xadiel (abel) Silva, Bernal, and Chase Tafoya picked up one apiece. Tafoya is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as he's now defended at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for McClintock, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They managed a 22-16 win over Goldwater on Friday.
Ironwood better keep an eye on Fredrick 'CP' Parsons. He was instrumental in McClintock's win, rushing for 201 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also catching one touchdown. With that strong performance, Parsons is now averaging an impressive 113.6 rushing yards per game.
Ironwood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for McClintock, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Ironwood has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 264.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like McClintock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 176.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Ironwood suffered a grim 35-9 defeat to McClintock in their previous meeting back in October of 2017. Thankfully for the Eagles, Tyrese Green (who rushed for 196 yards and four scores while picking up 8.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
