Basketball Game Preview: Southeastern Panthers vs. Zane Trace Pioneers

Southeastern is 0-10 against Zane Trace since January of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Southeastern Panthers will head out to square off against the Zane Trace Pioneers at 7:00 p.m.

Southeastern is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since December 10, 2024 on Tuesday. They took a blow against Unioto, falling 64-31. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Zane Trace waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 56-44 win over the Warriors. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Warriors are ranked 772nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Zane Trace's win came from a few key players Southeastern will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Grady Stewart, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Zane Trace pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Southeastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Southeastern ended up a good deal behind Zane Trace when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 49-34. Can Southeastern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
