Basketball Recap: Zoe Corjay's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Horizon over Oak Ridge

After flying high against Apopka last Friday, Horizon came back down to earth. The Horizon Hawks received a blow on Saturday as they fell 62-46 to the Oak Ridge Pioneers. If the Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 49-15 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Horizon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoe Corjay, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sienna Astorino, who scored 13 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Horizon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Horizon's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Oak Ridge, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horizon will take on Windermere at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oak Ridge, they will square off against DeLand at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Ridge has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 199 points over their last three matches.
