Softball Recap: Sipsey Valley Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Sipsey Valley waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Northridge Jaguars 16-6. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Barkely Higginbotham spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, Katie Grace Lowery was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Hooper, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

Sipsey Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive games.

The win got Sipsey Valley back to even at 3-3. As for Northridge, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Sipsey Valley will challenge West Blocton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sipsey Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Northridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Holy Spirit Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
