Baseball Game Preview: Tempe Prep Knights vs. Tonopah Valley Phoenix

The Tempe Prep Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Tonopah Valley Phoenix at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Tempe Prep will be strutting in after a win while Tonopah Valley will be coming in after a loss.

Tempe Prep is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Lincoln Prep last Monday. Tempe Prep came out on top against Lincoln Prep by a score of 9-4.

Marco Gastelo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Carlos Gastelum was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Will Drescher was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Tonopah Valley came up short against Glendale Prep Academy on Wednesday and fell 8-4.

Tonopah Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4-1. As for Tempe Prep, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
