Basketball Recap: Father Mcgivney Catholic Falls Despite Big Games from Chase Jansen and Owen Kolesa

Father McGivney Catholic lost against Jersey back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Father McGivney Catholic Griffins fell 52-42 to the Jersey Panthers.

Father McGivney Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Owen Kolesa and Chase Jansen. Kolesa went 5-for-9 to rack up 17 points and five boards, while Jansen went 7-for-16 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. Carson Barone was another key player, putting up two points and seven assists.

It was another big night for Jaxon Brunaugh, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards for Jersey. Another player making a difference was John Paul Vogel, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds.

Father McGivney Catholic dropped their record down to 13-16 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Jersey, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-19.

Coming up, Father McGivney Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Sandoval at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Sandoval will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Father McGivney Catholic surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jersey, they are taking a road trip to challenge Jacksonville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jacksonville has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three matchups.
