Softball Game Preview: Avonworth Antelopes vs. Mayfield Wildcats

The Avonworth Antelopes will face off against the Mayfield Wildcats at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Avonworth will be strutting in after a win while Mayfield will be coming in after a defeat.

Avonworth's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against St. Joseph Academy as Avonworth made off with a 10-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Mayfield came up short against West Greene on Thursday and fell 6-3.

Kameron Sills put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Sills was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Sills wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Pinzone, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Avonworth pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Mayfield, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
