Softball Recap: Poplar Springs Starts off Right with Win over Daleville

Poplar Springs took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Daleville Warhawks with a sharp 21-5 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Atomics as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Marissa Bollon was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Abby Duffell was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Daleville's defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poplar Springs will square off against Malone at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Poplar Springs is facing Malone at the right time seeing as Malone is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Daleville, they will challenge Dale County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
