Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Village's Winning Streak

If Village was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Grand Junction Central on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mountaineers lost 3-0 to the Montrose Red Hawks on Saturday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Mountaineers haven't been shut out since back in August.

Norah Hollis paced Village's offense, picking up 17 kills. Hollis got some help from Addison Miller and her 31 assists. Miller was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Montrose was led to victory by Amaya Potter and Maggie Legg. Potter had eight digs and four assists, while Legg had 26 kills, 16 digs, and two blocks. Legg is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had seven or more in each of the last 17 games she's played dating back to last season.

With the loss, Village broke their four-match winning streak and moved their record to 13-7. As for Montrose, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.

Village will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Liberty Common at 6:30 p.m. on the 17th. As for Montrose, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Gunnison on the 7th.
