Spoto had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 67-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sumner Stingrays on Tuesday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Stingrays recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Spoto had strong showings from Donovan McSwain, who went 6 for 13 en route to 18 points plus four steals, and Jesse Harden, who went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points plus seven rebounds and two steals. What's more, Harden also posted a 63% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2023. Jerren Rodriguez was another key player, earning nine points along with six rebounds.

Karsten Walker had a dynamite game for Sumner, scoring 27 points. Another player making a difference was Devin Baker, who had 12 points.

Spoto has already played their next match, an 81-68 loss against Strawberry Crest on the 20th. As for Sumner, they will head out to face off against East Bay at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
