Preview: Saginaw Rough Riders vs. The Colony Cougars
The Saginaw Rough Riders will head out on the road to face off against The Colony Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Saginaw comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Saginaw pushed their score all the way to 33 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They and Azle were almost perfectly matched up, but Saginaw suffered an agonizing 34-33 loss.
Saginaw's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Corey Baker, who gained 114 total yards and a touchdown, and Benjamin Cordova who picked up 71 receiving yards and a touchdown. Tyler Self got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, everything went The Colony's way against Azle on Friday as The Colony made off with a 41-19 win.
Kendrick Mcclodden was on fire: he rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns. Carson Cox was another major influence, as he rushed for 47 yards and ran in a TD.
Saginaw's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. As for The Colony, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Saginaw was dealt a bruising 59-3 defeat at the hands of The Colony in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Saginaw, Kamden Wesley (who rushed for 180 yards and five touchdowns on only 12 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
