Volleyball Recap: Newark Memorial Comes Up Short

Newark Memorial suffered their biggest defeat since September 11th on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Mission San Jose Warriors. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost five in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-13, 25-14.

Malia Kuehn paced Newark Memorial's offense, picking up five kills. Kuehn got some help from Gianna Adame and her 12 assists.

Mission San Jose found their leader in sophomore Evelyn Ho, who had eight digs and two aces. Scarlett Massengale also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Newark Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Mission San Jose, they moved to 11-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-match losing streak.
