Basketball Game Preview: Grand Junction Central Warriors vs. Fruita Monument Wildcats

Grand Junction Central hasn't had much luck against Fruita Monument recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Grand Junction Central Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Fruita Monument Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Blake Rooks and Jhett Wells.

Grand Junction Central is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 74-68 heartbreaker at the hands of Durango. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Demons are ranked 79th).

Meanwhile, Fruita Monument came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 51-33 win over the Tigers.

Grand Junction Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Fruita Monument, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4.

Grand Junction Central was taken down by Fruita Monument 63-30 when the teams last played back in January. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Grand Junction Central was down 40-14.
