The Gorham Rams will challenge the Scarborough Red Storm at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Gorham comes in on seven and Scarborough on 20.
Gorham is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Cheverus on Friday as they made off with a 10-2 win. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 18, 2021, but that streak is no more.
Wyatt Nadeau was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Scarborough's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let Portland get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Red Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.
Cam Dean tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Matthew Fallona and Kayson Cyr did most of the damage at the plate: Fallona went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Cyr got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Cyr a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kam Duggan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Scarborough's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Gorham, their record now sits at 8-1.
Gorham couldn't quite finish off Scarborough in their previous meeting back in June of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
