Baseball Recap: Payton College Prep Comes Up Short

After flying high against ITW David Speer Academy on Tuesday, Payton College Prep came back down to earth. The Grizzlies took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincoln Park Lions on Wednesday. The Grizzlies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Nick Linares was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run. Sam Merrill was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Payton College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Lincoln Park, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-14.

Coming up, Payton College Prep will square off against Niles West at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lincoln Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Francis W. Parker at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
