Softball Game Preview: Kennedy Cougars vs. San Fernando Tigers

After both having extra time off, the Kennedy Cougars and the San Fernando Tigers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Fernando took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Kennedy, who comes in off a win.

Kennedy is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since February 22nd last Saturday. They had just enough and edged out West 3-2.

Kennedy saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Melaney Velasco, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, San Fernando might've scored the first runs last Saturday, but it was Glendora who claimed the real prize. The Tigers fell just short of the Tartans by a score of 6-4. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kennedy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for San Fernando, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Kennedy skirted past San Fernando 2-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
