Baseball Recap: Southern Nash Has No Trouble Against Nash Central

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cleveland, Southern Nash was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Nash Central Bulldogs as Southern Nash made off with a 10-4 win. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Firebirds this season.

Isaiah Battle made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Southern Nash is 4-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Battle was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Luke Faulkner was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 5-for-5. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Deans, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5.

Southern Nash kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Southern Nash has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. The loss snapped Nash Central's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Southern Nash will have a chance to go back-to-back against Nash Central: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
