Volleyball Recap: John Paul II's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

If John Paul II was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of DeSoto on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals fell 2-0 to the McKinney North Bulldogs on Friday. The Cardinals' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-16.

John Paul II's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucy Schwabauer, who had 18 assists and three digs. Schwabauer has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 15 times she's played.

Malia McNeal was the offensive standout of the match as she had 17 assists and four digs.

John Paul II's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for McKinney North, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
