Baseball Game Preview: Marshall Lions vs. Effingham Hearts

The Marshall Lions will challenge the Effingham Hearts at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshall will be strutting in after a win while Effingham will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, Marshall made easy work of Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] and carried off a 12-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won four in a row.

Reed Ramey made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Garrett Pugh was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ben Harper, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Effingham came up short against Newton on Monday and fell 6-3.

Marshall now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Effingham, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
