Recap: New Palestine Dragons vs. Shelbyville Golden Bears
The New Palestine Dragons had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 56-49 victory over Shelbyville. With that victory, New Palestine brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
New Palestine's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadey Hughbanks, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Kylee Beranek was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Shelbyville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ella Johnson, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hannah Baker, who scored 14 points.
The victory got New Palestine back to even at 5-5. As for Shelbyville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Palestine will take on Greenfield-Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Greenfield-Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Thursday. As for Shelbyville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Castle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Castle is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
