Baseball Game Preview: Charlotte Christian Knights vs. Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers

For the second straight game, Charlotte Christian will face off against Charlotte Country Day School. The Knights will square off against the Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Charlotte Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Charlotte Country Day School's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Charlotte Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Charlotte Country Day School a 6-0 shutout.

Charlotte Christian got a great performance from Grant Nicholson as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. Nicholson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacob Reynolds, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Hudson Simmons also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Charlotte Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Charlotte Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Charlotte Country Day School, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
