Basketball Recap: Ocean View Takes a Loss

Ocean View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 70-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets. The Seahawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellow Jackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Ocean View lost, don't look at Logan Covarrubias. Despite the final result, he went 10 for 24 on his way to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Those 23 points gave Covarrubias a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Jefferson, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Zaraivion Crowe was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 15 boards for Palo Verde Valley. That makes it three consecutive games in which Crowe has scored at least a third of Palo Verde Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Yasias Green, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points and four steals.

Ocean View's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Palo Verde Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Ocean View didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-40 defeat against Katella on the 3rd. As for Palo Verde Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, an 80-63 loss against Banning on the 3rd.
