Baseball Recap: Salida Takes a Loss

After flying high against Meeker last Saturday, Salida came back down to earth. The Spartans fell just short of the Buena Vista Demons by a score of 8-7 on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 5-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Canin Becker was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Anthony Taverna was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Salida now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Buena Vista, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Salida beat the Demons by a score of 5-3 later that day.
