Softball Recap: Waltrip Beats Milby for Their 11th Straight Victory

Waltrip put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Milby Buffs get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 24, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Jazlynn Zamarripa was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Norah Kauffman, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Waltrip was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milby only posted a batting average of .125.

Waltrip's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Milby, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Waltrip will challenge Spring Woods at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Spring Woods has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.72 runs per game on average), something Waltrip will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Milby, they will venture away from home to face off against Sharpstown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
