Basketball Recap: St. John Paul II Catholic Takes a Loss

St. John Paul II Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the North Valley Christian Academy Lions, falling 70-16. While losing is never fun, St. John Paul II Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while North Valley Christian Academy is ranked 115th).

North Valley Christian Academy was led to victory by Zathan Ruffin and Brayden Collins. Ruffin went 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points in addition to seven assists and five boards, while Collins dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Those seven assists gave Ruffin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Rodriguez, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points.

St. John Paul II Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for North Valley Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

St. John Paul II Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-56 victory against Trivium Prep on the 10th. As for North Valley Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 86-62 win against Camp Verde on the 9th.
