Softball Recap: Lynchburg-Clay Comes Up Short

After flying high against West Union on Tuesday, Lynchburg-Clay came back down to earth. The Mustangs fell just short of the Manchester Greyhounds by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Greyhounds: they've now lost six in a row.

Noel Barnhill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lynchburg-Clay saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Roberts, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Lynchburg-Clay's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Manchester, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Coming up, Lynchburg-Clay will face off against North Adams at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Manchester has already played their next contest (against East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
