Baseball Recap: San Juan Comes Up Short

San Juan easily dispatched Grand County on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The San Juan Broncos fell just short of the Emery Spartans by a score of 5-3 on Saturday. The Broncos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Branten Bethea made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for San Juan: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. Cooper Palmer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

San Juan's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Emery, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season.

San Juan will take on American Leadership Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. American Leadership Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.63 runs per game on average), something San Juan will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Emery, they will face off against Canyon View at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
