Football Recap: Vigor Piles Up the Points Against Tuscaloosa County + How To Watch

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Vigor on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats out of the water with a 61-14 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-14.

Sammy Dunn had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 45 yards and four scores, and also threw for 305 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. What's more, he posted two passing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. A healthy portion of Dunn's aerial production (128 yards to be exact) went to Gerritt Holcombe.

Despite the defeat, Tuscaloosa County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kj Williams rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown.

Vigor pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.8 points on average over those games. As for Tuscaloosa County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Vigor and Tuscaloosa County will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Wolves will challenge rival LeFlore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Tuscaloosa County is set to take on their familiar foe Thompson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
